What the future of solar could look like?

Ever since 1839 (when scientist Edmond Becquerel first recognized the PV effect when he realized power generation from an electrolytic cell increased after exposure to light) solar has been growing drastically. Still, at the same time, the price of solar panels has dropped over 70% in the last 10 years and it is predicted to decrease by about 34% by 2030.

It is estimated that by 2050, solar will account for roughly 36% of global electricity generation. This, in addition to other forms of renewable energy, like wind and hydro, will help nations reduce their reliance on fossil fuels and transition to a clean energy economy.

Employment of solar photovoltaic installers is projected to grow 27 percent from 2021 to 2031, much faster than the average for all occupations. About 2,500 openings for solar photovoltaic installers are projected each year, on average, over the decade.

Solar trends

Two-thirds of the EU’s installed 209 GW solar capacity is still on roof-tops with the commercial roof-top segment growing fastest ahead of utility-scale ground-mounted projects. The EU’s Solar Energy Strategy aims to bring over 320 GW of solar photovoltaic online by 2025 and almost 600 GW by 2030! Solar generation rose by a record 39 TWh (+24%) in 2022, helping to avoid €10 billion in gas costs. This was due to record installations of 41 GW in 2022, 47% more than was added in 2021. Twenty EU countries achieved their highest-ever share of solar electricity. The Netherlands was the leader, producing 14% of its power from solar — overtaking coal generation for the first time. Greece ran solely on renewables for five hours in October and is expected to reach its 2030 solar capacity target of 8 GW by the end of 2023, seven years early. For the first time, wind and solar reached over a fifth (22%) of EU electricity in 2022. Global predictions for solar installations this year are for 350,6GWp of PV installation and SolarPower Europe predicts global solar to more than double to 2.3 TW in 2025.

New beginnings

Net-zero emissions by 2050? We are getting closer by starting 7,9 MWp in Poland and 48MWp in Germany ground mount full-scope installation!

Germany is again Europe’s biggest solar market in 2022 with 7.9 GW of newly installed capacity and Poland is 3rd in the Top 10 EU solar markets for 2022. In 2022 the solar EU market has increased by 47% compared to 2021. Solar is growing fast and we are proud to be part of that growth.

More green energy for Easter!

Here is a short update on the #solar projects our team is currently working on:

☑️ 22 MWp #floating #pv, The Netherlands
☑️ 50 MWp ground installation, Germany
☑️ 9.8 MWp ground #epc installation, Bulgaria
☑️ 1 MWp ground installation, Bulgaria
☑️ 150 MWp ground installation, ready for commissioning and grid connection

Happy Easter holiday from Evklips!
